PRESS RELEASE

Lepaya enters the UK market

Fast-growing skills scale-up now active in five European markets

Lepaya, provider of online and offline power skills training for fast-growing companies, is expanding to the United Kingdom. The Amsterdam-based challenger of traditional training institutes previously expanded to Belgium, Germany and Sweden. Lepaya is now taking the next step in its European expansion and, starting today, will also enable British companies to increase the sustainable employability of their employees.

By 2030, two-thirds of the UK workforce will lack digital skills, while more than 10 million workers will be under-skilled in skills such as leadership, communication and decision-making. Lepaya’s goal is to reduce the imminent talent shortage by supporting employees with the right skills. By focusing on improving power skills, skills that will not be automated and ensuring sustainable employability, the company will bring its training offering the British market.

“There is a looming skills shortage in the UK. Digitization, which has been accelerated by the pandemic, poses challenges in the field of sustainable employability. By allowing employees to develop the right skills and looking ahead to the labor market of the future, companies can become and remain future-proof. We can’t wait to support British companies in this endeavour,” says René Janssen, founder of Lepaya.

Lepaya’s growth ambitions do not stop at the United Kingdom and the company aims to become a major international player in the training market in addition to the five European countries in which Lepaya is already active. In 2020, the scale-up raised an investment round of €5 million and independently acquired Smartenup, a training company that supports professionals to work better, faster and smarter with data. This year, Lepaya was selected by Techleap.nl for the new generation of the growth program Rise, an exclusive program that focuses on rapidly scaling up progressive Dutch tech players.

About Lepaya

Lepaya is a provider of power skills training that combines online and offline learning. Founded by René Janssen and Peter Kuperus in 2018 with the perspective that the right training, at the right time, focused on the right skill, makes organizations more productive, Lepaya has trained thousands of employees.

As a challenger in a crowded training market, Lepaya responds to the needs of Europe’s fastest growing tech companies, such as Mollie, Takeaway and Picnic, amongst others. By combining hard skills with soft skills, offered together as power skills, the Amsterdam-based company is growing faster in a market in which the demand for reskilling and upskilling continues to increase all over the world.

In 2020, Lepaya closed a €5M funding round and independently made an acquisition of Smartenup, a training company that supports professionals to work better, faster and smarter with data. The scale-up focuses on the Dutch, Belgian, German and Swedish markets and serves its customers worldwide. This year Lepaya was selected by Techleap.nl for the new batch of the growth program Rise, an exclusive program for fast growing tech players in the Netherlands.
