Scale-up Lepaya opens new office in the heart of Amsterdam

Amsterdam, September 15, 2021 – Lepaya, provider of online and offline power skills training for fast-growing companies, will move into a new office in Amsterdam. The building, formerly a sugar factory, is located in the center of the city on Nieuwe Looiersdwarsstraat and offers space to more than 150 employees. The move is a direct response to the scale-up’s explosive growth.

Lepaya opened offices in Berlin and Stockholm earlier this year. The choice to move to a larger office in Amsterdam is the logical next step, according to René Janssen, founder of Lepaya: “We want to become an international player on the training market, with employees who can work together in a hybrid form. By creating a work environment where teamwork, innovation and entrepreneurship are central, we can provide the most effective skills training to organizations around the world. The new office in Amsterdam fits in perfectly with this mission.”

The former sugar factory, built in 1915, was originally intended for the production of the sugar works of De Bont and Leyten. Later the building functioned as a school and nursery. In 2017, D/DOCK took care of the interior design and developed innovative workspaces in collaboration with second life furniture designer Furnify. With an area spanning almost 2000m2, the building has two entrances and three office floors including a spacious garden and two outdoor terraces.

Since the official launch of Lepaya in 2018, the training company has been fully committed to a rapid European expansion. The Amsterdam-based challenger to traditional training institutes has previously expanded into Belgium, Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom. This year, Lepaya was selected by Techleap.nl for the new generation of the growth program Rise, an exclusive program that focuses on rapidly scaling up progressive Dutch tech players.

About Lepaya

Lepaya is a provider of power skills training that combines online and offline learning. Founded by René Janssen and Peter Kuperus in 2018 with the perspective that the right training, at the right time, focused on the right skill, makes organizations more productive, Lepaya has trained thousands of employees.

As a challenger in a crowded training market, Lepaya responds to the needs of Europe’s fastest growing tech companies, such as Mollie, Takeaway and Picnic, amongst others. By combining hard skills with soft skills, offered together as power skills, the Amsterdam-based company is growing faster in a market in which the demand for reskilling and upskilling continues to increase all over the world.

In 2020, Lepaya closed a €5M funding round and independently made an acquisition of Smartenup, a training company that supports professionals to work better, faster and smarter with data. The scale-up focuses on the Dutch, Belgian, German and Swedish markets and serves its customers worldwide. This year Lepaya was selected by Techleap.nl for the new batch of the growth program Rise, an exclusive program for fast growing tech players in the Netherlands.
