My onboarding experience

To be quite frank, my expectations were not high. The reason for this was that I couldn’t believe a company could deliver all the information and support I would need to start working from a remote distance.

However, my team and colleagues managed to get me up to speed in just two weeks. These two weeks were all planned out for me. By having a lot of video calls and by sharing screens I was introduced to all the topics, and the team members of course! It was a lot of information to process, but I would say that it was overall a great experience.

Do I feel home at Lepaya?

Yes and no. The team I am part of is really close and they do make me feel like a part of the Lepaya family. However, due to the current situation and as it is only my fourth (virtual) week, I didn’t get a chance to be in the office, besides that one time for my interview. This of course led to less interaction with the other Lepayaans. Simply because you don’t just ‘bump into them’.

Also, I do miss the whole organizational culture part of: real-live drinks, lunches together and simply feeling the ‘Lepaya vibe’. However, all-in-all I do believe that I will feel at ease once it is possible to go to the office again. I will then not only experience the ambiance from just my laptop, but in real life, and I am looking forward to it.

Home, sweet home. First-time starting an internship fully remotely

Being fully remote on the first day of your internship is definitely an unexpected way to get started!
Luckily, technology has been extremely useful in getting off to a good start, and I am excited to see how we are going to make our current situation work optimally. So far, so good
